Solange Knowles has written an original score for the New York City Ballet, which will be debuted on September 28 at the ballet company’s 10th annual Fall Fashion Gala.


The artist, 36, is the first black woman to write an original score for the New York City Ballet. The New York City Ballet orchestra will perform the score, which will be choreographed by Gianna Reisen.

For her single “Cranes in the Sky,” Solange won a Grammy for best R&B performance. In 2019, she released her critically acclaimed album, When I Get Home.

She announced four shows in October and five in May on Twitter.

Solange recently discussed her “depleting health” in 2018.
