Libya vs. Botswana– Libya and Botswana meet at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Wednesday in the first match of Group J of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The two countries will be hoping to get off to a solid start as they attempt to make their first appearance at the continental showpiece since 2012, when they were both eliminated in the group stages.

Libya’s Corentin Martins’ side were denied a third win in a row as they were defeated 2-0 by Mauritania in their most recent match on March 29.
Former Fulham forward Aboubakar Kamara converted his penalty in the 39th minute before Hemeya Tanjy put the game out of reach 13 minutes into the second half at the Stade de la Capitale.

Prior to that, the North Africans had broken a five-game losing streak by defeating Kuwait 2-0 at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on February 1, before returning home to defeat Niger 2-1 on March 26.

The Mediterranean Knights will now want to get back on track and begin their quest for a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations on a positive note, after failing to qualify for the continental showpiece since 2012.

Botswana will also be looking to avenge their poor performance in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifications last year and end their 10-year absence from the biannual competition.
The Zebras, like Libya, finished bottom of their qualification group after winning only one game, drawing one, and losing four of their six games for a total of four points out of a possible 16.

Libya vs. Botswana – Betting Analysis

Adel Amrouche’s side enters Wednesday’s encounter off the heels of another another disastrous COSAFA Cup campaign, in which they were eliminated in the group stages with four points from five games.
The Southern African nation will now face an opponent against whom they have failed to win any of their previous three encounters, drawing one and losing two.

While Botswana will be hoping to break their losing streak and start their qualifiers, they have struggled for results on the road since a 2-0 win over Eritrea in November 2015.

Meanwhile, Botswana has called up 23 players for their forthcoming qualifiers, with a big chunk of the squad based in the domestic league, similar to Libya.
