CFR Cluj vs Slavia Prague – All four teams in Group G of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) are level on four points and, miraculously, have the same goal differential, making the group exceedingly tight. Despite their unexpected 1-0 win over Slavia Prague last week, Cluj is last in the group in terms of goals scored. However, they are aware that if they complete an unlikely H2H double, they could end the night in first place as they strive for just their second top-two group stage finish in UEFA competition.

Despite Cluj’s 1-1 domestic draw with UTA Arad on Monday, you would imagine one of these clubs will preserve a clean sheet tonight because only one of Cluj’s last eight home games saw both teams score (W5, L3).
Slavia Prague has now dropped three of their last four competitive games after falling to Sigma 2-0 over the weekend in the Czech First League (W1). Slavia manager Jindich Trpiovsk said the two goals allowed in that loss to Sigma were “dumb, simple goals,” and given that his team has yet to allow a goal after halftime this season, he may be hoping for a repeat performance from his team in their UECL group games.
More “dumb” goals conceded won’t make things better for Slavia, who has only two wins in their previous 13 road games in Europe (D5, L6). Slavia has scored in nine of their 10 UECL away games (W2, D4, L4), but alarmingly has also given up goals in the same amount of those games, so once again the fault is with a porous backline.
Players to keep an eye on: Rangelo Janga scored the game-winning goal in the reverse H2H and both of Cluj’s goals this season have come in European play as game openers. With 13 goals, Peter Olayinka leads all European goal scorers for Slavia Prague. He also scored Slavia’s lone away goal in the UECL this season.
