Viktoria Plzen vs Bayern Munich – Viktoria Plze, the league leaders in the Czech Republic, will play in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage against Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Inter Milan as they attempt to go past the group stage for the first time ever.

Given the disparity in quality, it is not unexpected that Plze is currently last in Group C (L3) after handing out 12 goals, which is the highest of any club in the UCL group stage this season.

The fact that Plze manager Michal Blek conceded five goals to Bayern in the rematch (L 5-0) has undoubtedly contributed to that total, but he acknowledged that the skill the German giants possess is simply “out of their reach.” In each of Plze’s last three UCL group matches, the Czech team at least finished in third place and received a promotion to the UEFA Europa League as a consolation prize. However, even that now seems improbable for Plze.

Viktoria Plzen vs Bayern Munich – Betting Analysis

Bayern is now four points behind surprise league leaders Union Berlin after letting a two-goal lead slip to rivals Borussia Dortmund in a 2-2 Bundesliga tie over the weekend.

Bayern is unbeaten in 31 UCL group stage games (W28, D3), so you would fancy them to uphold their half of the deal here. However, the German juggernauts know victory here, coupled with Barcelona losing to Inter, would clinch them safe passage to the UCL knockouts.

With the last ten games being triumphs, Bayern might become UCL legend if they win their 11th straight group game, which would tie their current record for the most consecutive games without a loss. Given that Bayern has won 1-0 on each of its previous visits to Plze and is one of just two teams in the UCL group stages that has not given up a goal, the chances of a successful night for Julian Nagelsmann’s team seem good.

Players to keep an eye on: After making his return to play at the weekend, Jan Kliment, who has three UCL qualification goals to his name this season, might be the one to break Plze’s UCL scoring drought. Leroy Sané of Bayern, meanwhile, has contributed to 16 goals over the course of his last 13 UCL appearances (G10, A6). He has also scored in each of his three UCL matches this year.
