According to Fabrizio Romano, Nuno Tavares is scheduled to have a medical with Marseille today.

The left-back from Portugal has been strongly connected to leaving the team, but a loan is about to be approved.

Tavares was moved down the Arsenal left-back depth chart by the acquisition of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, and the organisation wanted the 22-year-old to play regularly for the first team in 2022–2023.

Tavares, who joined from Benfica last summer, was frequently used by Mikel Arteta while Kieran Tierney missed half the season due to injuries. And even though Tavares has a special left-back profile and raw athletic skill, he’s still far from being the dependable teammate Arteta wants.

Tavares will likely transfer abroad for the upcoming season after it was predicted that he will take a loan move away this summer.

The 22-year-old’s talent meant he garnered plenty of interest this summer and for a while, it looked like Tavares would be joining Atalanta with Brighton also in the running.

Negotiations with the Italian club fell through, but Marseille quickly pounced. The French powerhouses have been interested in signing Tavares on loan for a while now, and their connection with Arsenal is reportedly good after recent deals involving William Saliba and Matteo Guendouzi.

Marseille and Arsenal only started talking about Tavares again on Thursday morning, but they were able to come to an agreement. A complete agreement has reportedly been struck between the two teams, according to Fabrizio Romano.
