Following a meeting on Friday morning, the UK government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport came to the conclusion that there was no requirement to postpone or cancel events this weekend, leaving the choice up to individual sports organizations.

 

Some, like the Premier League, Women’s Super League, and the English Football League, have already intervened to cancel their events this weekend.

As a gesture of respect for the Queen, the Scottish FA, Welsh FA, and Irish FA have also intervened by delaying games.

However, due to horse racing’s decision to cancel its Saturday racecards, the Great North Run will still hold its marquee event, and the St. Leger in Doncaster will now take place on Sunday.

Football

 

This weekend, there will be no football in many of the home countries.

 

The Premier League in England has officially announced the cancellation of all 10 of the games scheduled for this matchweek on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

For this weekend, all EFL contests in the Championship, League One, and League Two have been postponed. It comes after the initial postponement of two games on Friday.
