The price of Amazon Prime has gone up by £1 a month.

Amazon is going to raise the price of its Prime service for people in the UK because it costs more to run.

The price of a monthly membership will go up by £1 to £8.99 in September, and the price of an annual membership will go up from £79 to £95.

Amazon said that inflation, which is at its highest level in 40 years, was partly to blame for the price increase, which was its first in the UK since 2014.

Even though there are signs that people are starting to use streaming services less, other services like Netflix have also raised their subscription prices.

Amazon Prime has more to offer than just its streaming service, though. Prime also lets you get as many deliveries of products as you want.

Amazon said that the new prices would start in September or when the customer’s membership was next up for renewal. They also said that customers could switch to an annual plan or cancel their membership.

The move comes at a time when many families want to spend less because prices of goods are rising at the fastest rate in 40 years.

Natalie Berg, a retail analyst who has written a book about how Amazon will change shopping in the future, said that the price increase for Prime was “not really a surprise” since Amazon raised prices for Prime in the US in February.

“It is an incredibly bold move to increase fees smack in the middle of the worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation, but Amazon is indispensable to many shoppers and they [the company] know that,” she told the BBC.

“Amazon has become so deeply embedded in our daily lives that so many people will accept the hike.”
