Colwill, a top player for England’s Under-21 national team, spent the previous season on loan with the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls are willing to spend a club-record sum of £40 million to acquire Colwill.
Colwill is currently on duty with the Young Lions, who secured their spot in the final of the U21 European Championship with a 3-0 victory against Israel. Colwill is expected to play a key role in the Young Lions’ success in the final.
Colwill has already had one offer from Brighton for his services turned down by Chelsea, who have also extended an offer of a new long-term deal to the academy graduate.
