Check out “Southgate final list on England’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024″. When confirming a 33-man preliminary team, the Three Lions manager already had to make difficult choices.

Notable players like Marcus Rashford, Jordan Henderson, and Reece James were among those left out. James Maddison of Tottenham and Jarell Quansah of Liverpool have also been informed that they will not be in Germany.

Before leaving for the competition, England will play Iceland in London tomorrow after defeating Bosnia 3-0 on Monday night in Newcastle. After a short vacation, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return to Portugal’s squad.

Following the final confirmation of his long-pending transfer to Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe is also captaining France.

Madison responds to the English axe

James Maddison, who left the England camp after hearing he wouldn’t be attending Euro 2024, responded on social media. The Tottenham midfielder wrote a long post on X, saying;

“Devastated doesn’t quite cut it. I put in a lot of effort and training this week, but if I’m being completely honest with myself, I probably wasn’t playing at the levels I had planned to when I returned from injury for Spurs in the second half of the season, which left Gareth [Southgate] with a choice.

“Even though I feel I provide something unique to the team and have been a fixture throughout this entire Euro 2024 qualifying campaign in Germany, I still felt there would be room for me in a 26-man squad, but I have to accept the manager’s decision.

“I have no doubt that I will return. I’m wishing the boys in Germany the best of luck possible. They are an amazing group of guys that I can honestly say are some of my closest friends. Sincerely, I hope football returns home.”

Maguire’s suffering

Well, this is bad news for Harry Maguire’s native England. According to Jeremiah James, a reporter of All Sports Predictions, the Manchester United defense is starting to look like a major concern for Euro 2024.

Due to a calf injury, the center back, who hasn’t played since April, is not scheduled to participate in tomorrow’s last warm-up match against Iceland. There are also worries that Southgate would be forced to travel to Germany without one of his mainstays as the squad selection process approaches.

Since taking over as head coach of the national team, Maguire has been a key member of the England side and has consistently performed well for the Three Lions. In the event that he was not selected, England would have to quickly find a replacement for John Stones.
