Newcastle vs Wolves – Newcastle won six of seven Premier League games between January 22 and March 10, keeping them out of relegation trouble and fueling speculation they could challenge for a top-half finish.
The Magpies have lost their last three league games, to Chelsea, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur. Due to Eddie Howe’s side’s recent wobble, they are now 15th in the table, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Prior to their trip to Norwich City on April 23, Newcastle have three home Premier League fixtures against Wolves, Leicester City and Crystal Palace before hosting title-challenging Liverpool on April 30.
The Magpies have only lost four of their 14 home league games this season, but they face a Wolves side that has the fourth-best away record in the Premier League, with 26 points from 15 games, more than Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham.
Wolves are currently eighth in the rankings, just five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, having played one more match than the North London club.
Bruno Lage’s side are now two points behind sixth-placed West Ham and have played the same number of games (31). Aston Villa were defeated 2-1 at home by Wolves last time out, and Wolves have also beaten Watford and Everton recently.
Despite finishing 13th in the Premier League last season, they are very much in contention for a European position this season, and their success in 2021-22 has been built on a good away record, only bettered by Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
Wolves overcame Newcastle 2-1 at Molineux in October, and haven’t lost to them since a Championship encounter in February 2017.

Surprisingly, five of the previous six Premier League meetings between these two sides have ended in a 1-1 draw, and we’ll have to pick the same result on Friday night. Newcastle will be anxious to halt their losing streak, and a point in front of their home fans should be enough for the Magpies.
