Check out “Jesse Lingard is practicing with Al-Ettifaq for a permanent move.” The midfield player’s contract expired at the end of the previous season, and he left Nottingham Forest. He is presently without a club.

Lingard, who has been eager to relocate to Saudi Arabia all summer, has requested a one-month trial period. If all goes according to plan, Steven Gerrard, the manager of Al-Ettifaq, is eager to sign the player.

Although he’s  aware that the 30-year-old is seeking over £7 million [€8 million] annually, Ettifaq’s budget, which is closer to £4.35 million [€5 million], still needs work.

Simon Jordan wants Premier League referees to have a £250,000-a-year basic salary to keep them from relocating to the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly offering £1 million-a-year jobs to top referees from European leagues to boost Saudi Pro League standards.

Host Jordan said: “I think the PGMOL should be dealing with the Premier League on a percentage contribution to increase referee compensation to match the scale of the game.”

I’d prefer it to be performance-indexed, but a £250,000 basic salary with the option to earn up to £500,000 for a great referee who referees 20 or 30 Premier League matches a season wouldn’t be ridiculous.

It’s hard running this business, but they’ll get a few good referees from the Premier League, Serie A, and LaLiga and we can start a succession plan.

We could then examine referee pay. I’ve always said that if we want the greatest referees, they should have St. George’s, quality assurance, and standards, and payment.

“I know players are the talent, and I’m not suggesting that we make referees millionaires just for the sake of it, but commensurate with the game and its riches, it seems strange that the officials in charge of the game get so little.”

Liverpool’s owners will sell a minority stake to pay off debts.

According to The Times, Fenway Sports Group would sell part of its Premier League stake to Dynasty Equaty for £80million to £160million.

The investment will assist the club pay for the enlargement of the Anfield Road stand at their stadium, which is still under development, and the purchase of their former Melwood training complex, which is now housing their women’s team and academy.

Although the deal would not allow Jurgen Klopp to spend more in the summer window, it will help eliminate the club’s debt.
