After his contract expired at the end of February, Peseiro quit the position. The Portuguese have now taken action to dispel speculation that he would return right away to take charge of the three-time African champions.
My time with the Super Eagles is over, as I already stated. In an interview with Sports Italia, Peseiro stated, “Coaching players of such caliber was rewarding, and together with my team, we succeeded in this regard. However, the time has come to move on to another project.”
For 22 months, the 63-year-old led the Super Eagles. The team placed second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations under the direction of the former coach of Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.

Osimhen Misses the Super Eagles’ Friendly
Nigeria’s forthcoming friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali will not feature Victor Osimhen. Osimhen did not play in Napoli’s 1-1 tie with Inter Milan, the top team in Serie A, on Sunday. In the days leading up to the match, the striker hardly practiced.

Tyrone Ebuehi will miss time due to an injury, Serie A club Empoli has confirmed. Due to the setback, Ebuehi will also miss Nigeria’s next friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali.
During Empoli’s 1-0 home loss to Bologna on Friday, the adaptable full-back suffered the injury. After starting the match on the bench, the 28-year-old replaced Emmanuel Gyasi at the 66-minute mark.
A statement on the team’s official website states, “Empoli Football Club informs that the instrumental tests that the player Tyronne Ebuehi, who came off during Friday’s match against Bologna, underwent highlighted the partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee.”
“The football player started the proper treatments with the Azzurri healthcare team after undergoing an initial evaluation by a specialist to determine the rehabilitation path.” This season, the defender has made 15 league appearances for Empoli.
