According to NADO, the suspension followed the discovery of synthetic testosterone in the test.

Depending on whether it can be demonstrated that the rule breach was purposeful, FIFA rules stipulate that a player who violates its anti-doping standards may face a two- or four-year ban, subject to appeal and a reduction or suspension.

Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, acknowledges that he backed Scotland in the 1978 World Cup.

Scotland, the lone UK participant in Argentina, won hearts with a valiant 3-2 victory over eventual champions the Netherlands, even though the outcome wasn’t enough to keep them from going home after the group round.

It turns out that Southgate was jubilant when Archie Gemmill snuck through the Dutch defense and slapped the ball into the back of the net to put Scotland up 3-1 and one goal away from a miraculous victory.

“This is horrible what I’m about to say here ahead of tomorrow but,” Southgate remarked before England’s match against Scotland tomorrow night.Because we didn’t make it in 1978, I was backing Scotland.
