According to local authorities, a shooting occurred Sunday night inside a mall in Greenwood, Indiana, leaving at least three people dead and numerous others hurt.

Police are searching for witnesses to the mall shooting.

According to Indianapolis Assistant Chief of Police Chris Bailey, there is no current threat to the neighbourhood, and police have at least one suspect.

With a population of about 60,000, Greenwood is an Indianapolis suburb located in the south.
We are disgusted by yet another incidence of this nature occurring in our nation, Bailey added.

What is currently known

The shooter was among the fatalities, according to a Facebook post from the Greenwood Police Department. He was shot, according to police, who said in the post.

The shooter entered the Greenwood Park Mall with a rifle and started firing in the food court, Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison informed reporters at a press conference.

Ison noted that police responded to the incident at about 6:00 p.m. local time and were still searching for other victims. Ison claimed that according to the officials, the gunshot was restricted to the food court.
