Toke Makinwa, a prominent media figure in Nigeria and the former host of Gulder Ultimate Search, is still grieving the loss of her sister, Opeyemi Abimbola Akinyelure, who passed away a year ago.

Toke Makinwa captioned the video with the following: “Roughly at this time last year on this day, you breathed your last. I’m still experiencing the lump in my throat a year later. When they say “it is well,” I want to ask, “What is that?” Then they lie and say it gets simpler.

I deeply miss you, your laugh, and your prayers. To actually live in the hearts of those you love is to not die, I have so much to tell you, sis, that I’m not sure how we made it through this year. I’m sure you’re keeping an eye on us all. The past year has been the darkest, yet occasionally you throw us rays of sunshine, and I will always be grateful for the memories.

Because of your passing, I have learned not to dread death. I have also learned that although we only live once, as long as we live according to God’s purpose, we will survive death. You prevailed, sis, and your heavenly father is honored by the legacy you have left behind. My Queen, I will always love you, Keep humming along to the angels’ music in heaven. We’ll dance together once more someday.

Till then, sis, take it easy.
