Tearful First speech by Rebekah Vardy following Wagatha Christie case defeat

Rebekah Vardy sobbed today as she reiterated her denial of leaking information about Coleen Rooney for the second time since losing her £3 million Wagatha Christie libel case.

In a teaser clip released this afternoon, Mrs. Vardy told TalkTV host Kate McCann, “I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face, I did not do it.”

The 40-year-old continued, saying, “I feel let down by a lot of people, a lot of things.” The case has destroyed the man’s reputation, which has been destroyed by the incident. But more importantly, I believe the legal system has let me down.

Mrs. Vardy tells McCann, “I’m going to try,” and at one point she puts her head in her hands. Last week’s Tory leadership debate was hosted by the presenter before it had to be cancelled due to her fainting.

The first in a series of initiatives to repair her reputation, which may also include a documentary, a biography, and two retail campaigns, is most likely the exclusive interview.

A High Court judge criticized Mrs. Vardy, the wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie, for giving “evasive and implausible” testimony and accused her of purposefully deleting crucial WhatsApp messages.

Five production companies are rumored to be interested in making a documentary about the infamous case, according to sources close to Vardy, and they are hoping that a bidding war will ensue.

According to The Times, bidders are anticipated to offer between £50,000 and £250,000 for her involvement.

The feature film on Wayne was produced by Lorton Entertainment, which is also believed to be in competition with streaming goliaths Netflix, Amazon, and Disney to air Rooney’s side of the legal dispute.

According to a source close to Coleen, she might receive “several million pounds” for taking part.

In spite of legal experts’ claims that she has little chance of success and would be better off “retiring to a Scottish island,” Vardy’s Instagram post suggests that Mrs. Vardy has not ruled out a potential appeal.

Vardy filed a lawsuit in response to the claim that she had divulged personal information to the media. It happened after Mrs. Rooney conducted a complex sting operation to discover who was providing The Sun with information about her personal life.

Coleen had succeeded in demonstrating that her accusation was essentially true, the judge, Justice Karen Steyn, stated in her decision.

Mrs. Vardy will be responsible for both her own and her opponent’s expenses, which, according to sources in both camps, range from £2 million to £3 million.

The Vardys may have to sell their cherished Portuguese villa in order to pay the enormous legal bill.

After being accused of leaking personal information about Coleen and her family to The Sun newspaper, Mrs. Vardy pursued the case against her Wag rival Coleen Rooney tenaciously for almost three years.

Just over two months after the hearing in May, Mrs. Justice Steyn remotely delivered the shocking decision from Court 13 of the High Court at noon. Vardy’s unsuccessful libel lawsuit has been dubbed the worst decision ever made in history.

Mrs. Vardy shared a photo on Instagram on Saturday with the caption “peace out” showing her walking away from the camera.

Earlier this year, Rebekah Vardy and her husband Jamie, a football player for Leicester City, were seen together outside the High Court.

Earlier this year, in May, Coleen Rooney was seen traveling with her husband Wayne to the High Court in London.

After Mrs. Justice Steyn ruled in favor of Coleen Rooney, Rebekah Vardy and her footballer husband Jamie (shown leaving court at an earlier hearing) will now have to pay £3 million in legal fees.

In the spotlight of the international media, Mrs. Vardy had insisted on a full trial but lost.

Legal expert Mark Stephens called Mrs. Vardy’s decision to go to court “ill-advised” and dashed any hopes she may have had for an appeal.

She has absolutely no chance of winning an appeal, he told MailOnline. The judge has made findings of fact, so in order to appeal, she must show that the judge committed a legal error, which she has not done.

“This case was never wise to pursue.” The attorneys in a libel case are being paid to analyze you. They succeeded. They caused reputational harm to both women.

‘Unfortunately, the stain will last a very long time for Vardy. She would be better off retiring to an island in Scotland and remaining silent forever.

This is already an own goal, and an appeal would be throwing good money after bad. What you don’t want is an own goal that turns a crisis into a catastrophe.

A partner at Wiggin LLP and media litigator Matthew Dando told MailOnline: “Rebekah Vardy’s credibility is in ruins as a result of this devastating and damning judgment.” It is difficult to think of a stronger legal condemnation of her testimony.

Rebekah Vardy’s finances will also suffer significantly as a result of having to cover Coleen Rooney’s legal fees in addition to her own.

It’s difficult to see Rebekah Vardy surviving this without suffering a fatal injury to her reputation and credibility.

According to the High Court, Mrs. Rooney’s social media post in which she accused her rival was “substantially true” and Mrs. Vardy “knew of, condoned and was actively engaged” in Caroline Watt’s leaks to the media.

Rebekah Vardy (shown in the May 13 photo) expressed shock and devastation at the decision.

The judge also gave Mrs. Vardy’s testimony a damning evaluation, saying that “significant parts were not credible” and that at times her testimony “was manifestly inconsistent with the contemporaneous documentary evidence, evasive or implausible.” Coleen and her witnesses, including her husband Wayne, on the other hand, were deemed by the judge to have “given honest, reliable evidence.”

In addition, Mrs. Justice Steyn rejected the assertion made by her agent that a phone fell into the North Sea when a ship hit a big wave and that the loss of WhatsApp messages between Mrs. Vardy and Ms. Watt was “accidental rather than deliberate.”

The judge concluded that it was “likely” that Caroline Watt, Mrs. Vardy’s agent at the time, “undertook the direct act” of providing the information to The Sun.

However, she continued, “the evidence… clearly shows, in my opinion, that Mrs. Vardy knew of and condoned this behavior, actively engaging in it by directing Ms. Watt to the private Instagram account, sending her screenshots of Mrs. Rooney’s posts, calling attention to things that might be of interest to the press, and responding to additional questions raised by the press via Ms. Watt.”

“In my judgment, the conclusions that I have reached as to the extent to which the claimant engaged in disclosing to The Sun information to which she only had access as a permitted follower of an Instagram account which she knew, and Mrs. Rooney repeatedly asserted, was private, suffice to show the single meaning is substantially true,” the judge continued.

For a week in May, the case captivated millions of people who were left speechless by the evidence, which included explosive and profanity-filled Whatsapp messages sent by Ms. Vardy as well as Coleen’s testimony about leaking false stories about her personal life to find out who was doing it, and how her marriage almost broke down after her husband Wayne was caught driving under the influence with a party girl.

Coleen Rooney is considering creating a new TV show about the court case (seen in court on May 17).

It was never a case I sought out or wanted, according to Mrs. Rooney. In a time of hardship for so many people, I never thought it should have gone to court at such expense when the money could have been much better used to help others.

I did everything in my power to prevent the need for such a protracted and widely watched court case, both before and after my social media posts in October 2019. Mrs. (Rebekah) Vardy rejected each of my attempts to do so.

This left me with no choice but to proceed with the case in order to defend myself and put an end to The Sun repeatedly receiving my private information.

These Instagram leaks from my personal account started in 2017. They persisted in violating my family’s and my privacy for almost two years. Although I have no malice toward Mrs. Vardy, it is evident from today’s decision that I was correct in what I said in my posts from October 2019.

“Finally, I would like to thank everyone on my legal team, my family, friends, and anyone else who helped me during this trying and stressful time, including the public.”

Rebekah Vardy’s family’s beloved Portuguese villa may need to be sold, however, as the couple is expected to pay a significant legal bill.

Despite the sizeable legal bill she has been left with, sources close to the 40-year-old mother of five said she has “no regrets” about taking the case to court.

Mrs. Vardy will be responsible for both her own and her opponent’s expenses, which, according to sources in both camps, range from £2 million to £3 million.

According to friends, the couple’s luxury villa on the exclusive golf resort of Quinta do Lago in Portugal, which they refer to as their “sanctuary,” may be put up for sale as a result.

The house, which has six bedrooms, three swimming pools, a gym, and a steam room, is thought to be worth around £2 million and can be rented for up to £30,000 per week.
