Sturm Graz vs Dynamo Kyiv – Finally, Sturm Graz has returned to the position they held in the late 1990s, when they virtually always participated in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Since 2011–12, when they were merely passengers in a group that included Lokomotiv Moscow, AEK Athens, and Anderlecht in the UEFA Europa League, the Austrian heavyweights have failed to advance to the group stage of any European competition.

However, Sturm Graz made a comeback with a group stage appearance in the Europa League last year despite struggling to compete with teams like Monaco, Real Sociedad, and PSV Eindhoven.

Sturm was the runner-up in the Austrian Bundesliga at the end of the last campaign, and they are looking to qualify for the Champions League groups this time.

The team managed by Christian Ilzer was defeated 1-0 by Dynamo Kyiv, the Ukrainian team that finished second, in the first leg last week on the neutral ground in Poland (Dynamo Kyiv were the nominal hosts).

However, it should be noted that the Austrian let in the game’s lone goal on the occasion from Dynamo Kyiv’s lone shot on goal.

The Ukrainians will now be visiting Merkur Arena on Tuesday, and the hosts will be attempting to erase the one-goal deficit.

In the second round of the Austrian Bundesliga, Sturm Graz once again displayed strength by defeating champions Salzburg 2-1 at home and signalling a serious challenge for the local championship.

Sturm Graz vs Dynamo Kyiv – Betting Analysis

The two adversaries’ first-ever competitive matchup took place last week in Poland, and  in a mid-season friendly in January 2018, Sturm Graz prevailed 0-1 against their former opponent.

In the first leg of this Champions League match, which was played last Wednesday in Poland, the score was same, but Dynamo Kyiv won.

Due to the extra-time goal in Istanbul, Dynamo Kyiv, who faced Fenerbahce in the previous round, managed to progress 1-2 on the overall scoreboard.

However, the Ukrainians didn’t play well against Sturm Graz six days prior, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the hosts win with a clean sheet in this match.

Rasmus Hojlund, a brilliant 19-year-old striker, also deserves to be mentioned because he contributed a brace to Sturm Graz’s Bundesliga victory over Salzburg. He is a good bet to score anytime in this situation. Regardless, the home victory is paid at 2.25 odds.
