Despite drawing with St Polten at home, they managed to earn their first point of the group stage against the Austrians in the reverse game.
Slavia Prague held Wolfsburg to a goalless draw last week, preventing them from earning their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions, and they will want to take the confidence acquired from that result to pick up at least a point on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Roma have done well in their maiden season in the Women’s Champions League, progressing to the knockout stages. After advancing through qualifying, they began the group stage with wins against Slavia Prague and St Polten before drawing 1-1 at home with Wolfsburg.
However, their first Champions League setback came on matchday five against Wolfsburg, when the German champions showed their quality to upset Roma 4-2.
While Alessandro Spugna’s team departed Germany empty-handed, they advanced to the knockout stages with a 5-0 win against St Polten last week, due to braces from Benedetta Glionna and Manuela Giugliano, as well as a goal from Annamaria Serturini.
With Roma one point behind Wolfsburg, they can only finish first if they beat Slavia Prague and the Germans lose to St Polten.
