Serbia were victors in their last game some few days ago as Alexander Mitrovic’s second-half brace helped Serbia secure a thrilling v3-2 win over the Republic of Ireland in their opening FIFA World Cup qualifier. Republic of Ireland got off to a great start against the Serbs in that encounter but they showed determination and resilience to come back into the game and win it.
Portugal also got a victory against their less illustrious opponents the last time out with a disappointing 1-0 win when it was expected that they would rain goals on the Azerbaijan defense. Bruno Fernandes was easily Portugal’s best player on the day as the team showed rustiness despite their dominance in the game. Portugal is favourites to top in Group A and this could very well be their toughest game in the group stage.
Serbia and Portugal have clashed six times till date with Serbia yet to register a win over their potential opponents with Portugal winning 3 and 3 games ending in a draw.
