Before Atleti substitute Mario Hermoso responded late in the game, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde secured the victory. Hermoso then saw red in stoppage time. Real happiness, though, was clouded by “monkey” chants from throngs of Atletico Madrid fans prior to the game.

Additionally, allegations surfaced on social media that the stewards at Atleti’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium did little to stop the behaviour. Such resentment at the chants set off another intense derby.
The best response came from Carlo Ancelotti’s team, who improved to 9 wins in 9 games this year and 6 in La Liga. However, Atletico threatened the match twice in the opening stages.
Felipe misdirected a free-kick from Rodrigo de Paul, and Yannick Carrasco’s attempt was deflected wide. However, Real Madrid scored well on their first opportunity after 18 minutes.
Rodrygo, a forward for the in-form Brazil team, expertly completed a lovely ball from Aurelien Tchouameni. As a result of Vinicius Jr.’s shot deflecting off a post, Valverde doubled the advantage.
But Atletico improved after the interval, assisted by Hermoso coming on in the 72nd minute. After Thibaut Courtois flubbed at a corner 11 minutes later, the Spanish defender trimmed the deficit off his shoulder.
But after pushing Dani Ceballos, he received a booking for disobedience and was swiftly harshly dismissed for receiving a second yellow card. However, the pre-game racism left a bad taste.
Additionally, numerous requests for Atletico to be punished flooded social media. One participant responded “I feel horrible,” while another emphasised the sheer number of offenders by tweeting, “It’s thousands. I’m at a lost for words”.
