Italy – Serie A
Date: Friday, 19 March 2021
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio Ennio Tardini (Parma)
Parma have won nearly a third of their Serie A season points across the last five games alone winning 1, drawing 3, and losing 1 with their form confining them to the relegation zone. Defensive issues remain a concern, as four of those five games saw them concede 2+ goals. Going 1-0 behind is a catastrophe, as Parma has retrieved just two points from Serie A matches to see them do so (D2, L10).
Majority of Parma’s 19 total points have come in home games, but they still own the joint-second lowest home points tally in the entire league. Goals have been scarce here, as highlighted by their 64.29% rate of scoring blanks in SA home games.
Genoa has remained unbeaten in Serie A games where they have netted the match opener winning 5 and drawing 4. Although their form has been somewhat inconsistent, they have posted a better return than their host this season.
Defeat in each of Genoa’s last two away league games undermines their chances, as does a failure to score in four of their last five Serie A road trips. With Parma failing to score in 12 league games and Genoa also failing to score in 8 league away games, it is expected that this match will post low goal margins.
Players to watch includes Hernani who has scored Parma’s final goal in his last three goal scoring league games, each time to give or extend the lead. Genoa’s Mattia Destro will be one of several visitors who are desperate to make an impact, and three of his previous five goals have come between the 46th-60th minute.
Obvious absentees for both teams are Nicolussi Caviglia H.(Knee Injury)for Parma, and Pellegrini Lu.(Muscle Injury) for Genoa.
