Manchester United Women are nearing a deal to sign England international Nikita Parris from WSL rivals Arsenal.

A deal with Arsenal was agreed upon prior to this summer’s European Championships, and personal terms have also been worked out, and the transfer could be completed as soon as this week.

Parris joined Arsenal last summer after two seasons at Lyon, where she won the Champions League, but she only scored one WSL goal as Arsenal finished second, one point behind champions Chelsea.

Last season, United finished 14 points behind WSL champions and hope that the signing of Parris will help Marc Skinner’s side close the gap in their quest for their first top-flight title.

Personal terms for the 28-year-old England winger to join United are also believed to be in place.

If the agreement is reached, Parris will leave Arsenal a year after joining for a club-record fee from Lyon.

Parris appeared in 38 games for Arsenal in all competitions last season, helping Jonas Eidevall’s team finish second in the Women’s Super League behind Chelsea.

Parris spent two extremely successful seasons in France with Lyon, winning Division 1 Feminine and the Women’s Champions League before returning to England with Arsenal.

She previously played for Manchester City, where she won the Women’s Super League in 2016, as well as the FA Cup in 2016-17 and 2018-19.

Parris began her career with Everton.

She is currently representing England at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 on home soil, but she was left on the bench for Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Austria in front of a record-breaking crowd at Old Trafford.
