WORLD: Friendly International
Date: Wednesday, 02 June 2021
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 19:45 CET
Venue: Estádio Algarve (Faro/Loulé)
Frank de Boer’s Netherlands (FIFA rank: #16) begin their pre-EURO warm up with a clash at the Estádio Algarve against Scotland (#44) in what will be their 12th friendly H2H. T
he Netherlands have the upper hand so far (W5, D3, L3), but their only two previous games at this stadium (against all opponents) have both ended level. Though it took de Boer five games to register his first win as head coach of the ‘Oranje’, all of his four victories in the Netherlands’ hot seat have come within his last five games on the touchline (W4, L1). He’s also overseen back-to-back clean sheets ahead of this.
Scotland have won just one of their last five internationals (W1, D2, L2) since their dramatic win on penalties over Serbia, which saw them qualify for the European Championships for the first time since 1996. Scoring first may be vital here, considering 12 of 18 prior H2Hs witnessed at least one team fail to score.
However, Steve Clark manages a nation that has not scored in 428 minutes of H2H play vs the Dutch, whilst losing at both HT/FT in three of the last four. Notably, the Scots have not drawn any of their last six games vs nations ranked between #10 and #20 (W3, L3), with all victories in that sequence coming after a won first half.

- Scotland’s form in last 5 matches: WDDLL.
