The in-demand midfielder might leave Dortmund for under £83 million next summer, according to a recent report from SunSport. That is, assuming one of the potential suitors for the England international pays the entire transfer cost up front.
Bellingham’s “gestures” imply that he prefers a switch to Real if he moves. The 19-year-old was reportedly asked to reject a new contract with Dortmund by the defending European champions.
The former Birmingham star responded appropriately and declined the advances of his Premier League admirers. Real are hoping to add some youth to their midfield, which has been stout in recent years thanks to the star combination of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro, who departed for United.
Both Modric, 37, and Kroos, 32, are past their primes and have contracts that expire in June. Now, Los Blancos are gradually laying the groundwork for future leaders like Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde to assume control.
Bellingham, whose contract with Dortmund expires in 2025, is seen to be another important addition, and the Madrid giants have been keeping an eye on him since 2019. Additionally, the absence of a Casemiro replacement by Real suggests that the England star will be acquired soon.
