Fulham vs. Preston – Preston North End visit Craven Cottage on Tuesday, knowing that a win would secure a return to the Premier League for 2022-23.

The Cottagers missed out on promotion on Friday after losing 2-1 to relegation-threatened Derby County, while Preston are coming off a 1-1 draw with Millwall. In the second half, Derby turned the game around, and the Cottagers remain relegated. In the 20th minute, Fabio Carvalho scored.

Marco Silva’s team are nine points clear of second-placed Bournemouth, however the Cherries have one match in hand.

Fulham have lost three of their previous five Championship games, including two to Coventry City and one to Derby, and one to West Bromwich Albion.

The capital club have won 25, drawn eight and lost eight of their 41 league matches, scoring 95 goals, with Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring 38 goals in 39 matches in the second tier.

The Cottagers have the second-best home record in the Championship, with 40 points from 20 games, only Blackburn Rovers have more (41). And they’ll be facing a Preston team that has only 24 points from 21 games, 14th best in the second division. Preston, on the other hand, drew 1-1 with Millwall on Friday. Murray Wallace scored twice in a tight contest at Deepdale.

Ryan Lowe’s team are presently 13th in the table, seven points behind sixth-placed Sheffield United, meaning they may still make the playoffs, but a top-six finish will be difficult. Preston are more likely to finish in the middle of the table, despite picking up seven points from their last three games, beating Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers before drawing with Millwall last time out.

Fulham vs. Preston – Betting Analysis

A poor away form has lost the Lilywhites, who finished 13th in the second tier last season, a chance to get closer to the top six before the end of the month.

Preston, for example, lost 2-0 in February 2020. Both Preston and Fulham drew 1-1 at Deepdale this season.  Fulham have lost their previous two Championship games, so Preston may be meeting the wrong team. There are some nerves in the Craven Cottage camp, but we expect the home side to get the points they need to ensure Premier League promotion.
