The legendary right-back left Barcelona after his contract expired. Alves received an emotional farewell from both supporters and players.
Barcelona won the Joan Gamper Trophy with a 6-0 victory over Mexico.


After their final preseason game against Pumas Unam on Sunday, Barcelona paid tribute to legendary right-back Dani Alves.

The 39-year-old left the club in June after his contract expired, bringing his second stint with Barcelona to an end.
Alves faced Laliga at Nou Camp for the Joan Gamper Trophy with new club Pumas, and he was bid farewell by players and fans.

Following Sunday’s match, former Barcelona teammates threw Dani Alves in the air.
Fans applauded Alves as he came out to warm up before the game. He reciprocated by making a heart sign while riding on Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s back.

The Brazilian was overcome with emotion and burst into tears before hugging his former teammates and president Joan Laporta. He was presented with a framed shirt bearing the number 431, which represents the number of games he played for the club.

The emotional scenes continued after the game, with the entire Barcelona squad throwing him in the air.

Alves thanked his former teammates on social media, writing, ‘Gratitude and best wishes to you….. I love you so much!!’
In an emotional night, the 39-year-old Brazilian hugged all of his former Barcelona teammates.

Alves received a framed shirt with the number 431, which represents the number of games he has played.

Alves won 26 major trophies with Barcelona during his first spell, including the Champions League, Club World Cup, and LaLiga, while scoring 22 goals.
Meanwhile, Xavi’s team won the Joan Gamper Trophy 6-0 over Pumas.

In a routine victory, Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ousmane Dembele, and Frankie de Jong all scored.

On Saturday, Barcelona will open the Laliga season at home against Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona won their final pre-season friendly ahead of Saturday’s La Liga opener.
