Clermont vs Nantes – Nantes will have a good chance to snap a two-game losing record tomorrow afternoon when they go to Stade Gabriel Montpied to face out-of-form relegation battlers Clermont.
In the previous two rounds, Nantes was defeated 0-1 by Troyes and Lille. The team’s push for European football next season has been stopped as a result of these losses.
As a result, Les Canaris slid to ninth position in the Ligue 1 standings. They are, however, only four points behind Lille in sixth place, and with a successful finish to the season, they may conceivably join the race for UEFA Europa Conference league berths.
Their opponents tomorrow, Clermont, are in a considerably more difficult condition as the season enters its last nine games.
After three consecutive losses to Lille, Lorient, and Lens, Pascal Gastien’s troops are only one point above the danger zone. Clermont has conceded as many as nine goals in the process, exposing far too many defensive flaws.
They gave up 20 shots in a 3-1 loss to Lens just before the international break. This will be music to the ears of Randal Kolo Muani, Nantes’ top scorer with 10 goals so far this season.

Clermont has lost each of its last three league games by at least two goals. They haven’t been pulling up any trees recently, and we doubt they’ll earn a result here against top-half Nantes.
However, given that the visitors haven’t been in the best of attacking form of late, we think the Under 2.5 goals FT choice is a good bet at 1.61 odds. Better bets can go with the draw at 3.20 odds.
