Chelsea vs. Everton
England – Premier League
Date: Monday, 8 March 2021
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea was on the winning end of the stick last time out as they won 0-1 away to Liverpool who looks out of sort in the league at the moment. The Anfield giant’s losing streak includes a defeat to Everton. The Toffees had moved into the top four before Chelsea’s win at Anfield and former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti returns to Stamford Bridge with the Champions League in his sights.
Thomas Tuchel has been impressive at Chelsea since taking over the reins from former manager Frank Lampard. The former PSG coach hasn’t brought the attacking swagger which his previous two teams had, but he’s turned Chelsea into a defence solid side that opponents find difficult to beat with only two goals conceded in the coaches’ first 10 games.
Chelsea currently sit fourth in the table, one point clear of fifth-placed Everton, but the Toffees have a game in hand over the Blues as both team aim for a Champions League place.
Tuchel became the first Chelsea boss to oversee four clean sheets in his first four home league games and If the Blues extend that run, it would be their best defensive run at home in over six years.
Everton also picked up a huge three points in their last league game as a second-half goal from Richarlison handed them a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 25 Premier League home games against Everton and recorded a 4-0 win when the pair locked horns at Stamford Bridge the last time.
Everton will be looking to complete their first league double over the Blues since the 1978-79 season, having ran out 1-0 winners at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture back in December.
Chelsea could be without Thiago Silva again, while Tammy Abraham remains a doubt. Everton on the other hand will welcome Allan back to the starting line-up with Tom Davies, James Rodriguez, Robin Olsen and Seamus Coleman all in line for action.
