Austria Vienna vs Lech Poznan – Preview, and PredictionAustria Vienna, who are firmly entrenched at the bottom of Group C of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL), must win now or never. They will be eliminated from the competition if they do not win, so at least that will give Manfred Schmid’s struggling squad some direction. The Violets appeared to be off to a good start with a scoreless draw with Hapoel Be’er Sheva on matchday one, but since then, they have dropped six of their previous 10 games overall (W3, D1).

The sole goal scored by Austria Vienna in the competition thus far came against Lech Pozna in the rematch, a 4-1 defeat. They’ve only managed to score seven goals at home in their last 13 games in Vienna, and none of those games have ended in victories (D5, L8). This has been a problem for them at home in European competition for a while. They at least have a strong track record at home against Polish teams in important European play, winning all five games there, including one against Lech back in 2008.

Austria Vienna vs Lech Poznan – Betting Analysis

Lech’s prospects of advancing to the knockout rounds for the first time since 2012 may not be assured by an automatic qualifying for the last 16, but they may be with a win here and a loss by Hapoel Be’er Sheva. The Railwaymen have rebounded from a thrilling 4-3 loss to Villarreal in their initial game by staying undefeated in their subsequent three games while only giving up two goals.

The defending Polish champions are now 10 points behind the league’s leaders after a lackluster start to the domestic campaign. After an early elimination from the Polish Cup, a goalless draw with Cracovia over the weekend has provided some relief. Lech hasn’t been a terrific continental traveler lately, losing all nine of their previous travels to Europe (D3, L6). If this trend continues, their chances of moving forward will depend on their last group game.

Players to keep an eye on include Mikael Ishak of Lech Pozna, who has directly assisted five goals in four UECL games, and Austria Vienna forward Dominik Fitz, who has directly assisted five goals in his previous five outings (G3, A2) but just once won (D1, L3) (G3, A2).
