Arsenal vs. Tottenham

England – Premier League

Date: Sunday, 14 March 2021

Kick-off at 16:30 UK/ 17:30 CET

Venue: Emirate Stadium, London

It’s an all Londoners affair when Arsenal take on Tottenham in what could have been described as a top four finish fight in recent past but now reduced to a mid-table clash tag due to the position of the two teams on the league table. While Arsenal occupies the tenth place on the table, Tottenham sit on seventh. The league places may be unfamiliar to both teams, but their form has since improved in all competition.

Fatigue from a midweek trip may well play its part, and indeed, Arsenal have conceded inside less than ten minutes in both prior games played immediately after European action during 2021 (W1, L1). However, recent history implies they could recover from any early setback here, with Arsenal salvaging four points from six despite trailing 2-1 at HT in the last two PL H2Hs here.

Tottenham are making a late push for the top four, winning three straight PL games ahead of this clash. Given Arsenal’s poor starts in post-European games this year, it is interesting to see that each of those three wins saw Tottenham open the scoring inside 25 minutes. With Son, Kane, and Bale all firing on all cylinders, it will be difficult to see how an Arsenal backline will contain the onslaught from Jose Mourinho’s men.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored Arsenal’s second goal of the day in each of his last two home league H2Hs vs ‘Spurs’. Harry Kane netted in the reverse clash, and also scored a midweek brace against Dinamo Zagreb. He will be hoping to get into the scoring books for this clash.
