England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 3 April, 2021
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Emirate Stadium, London
The ancient rivalry between these two Premier League giants will take center stage this evening as both teams battle to climb up the table further as both teams find themselves in seemingly unfamiliar territories outside the top 6. The two teams have clashed in a staggering 232 games across various competitions till date.
Arsenal finds themselves in the ninth position on the league table with just 12 wins and 42 points so far. It must be said that Mikel Arteta is walking a tight rope and has just 10 games left to close the seven-point gap on fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur to secure European football next season.
However, their visitors are having a torrid time in the league also. With just 13 wins from 29 games and nine defeats, Jurgen Klopp’s side are a massive 25 points off runaway leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool narrowly edge their London counterparts in the head-to-head record with 90 victories, while Arsenal have beaten them on 81 occasions. If current form is anything to go by, then football fans are in for an intriguing showpiece tonight.
Willian is a doubt for the Gunners as the former Chelsea man suffered a calf injury before the international break, but had two weeks to recover. England international, Bukayo Saka also withdrew from the England squad with a minor hamstring problem and should be well rested for the game.
Emile-Smith Rowe will miss out on the action as he missed the England under-21’s last game against Croatia with a hip injury. Liverpool on the other hand will be without the likes of Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip who are all out injured.
