Anderlecht vs FCSB – After their fans abandoned Sunday’s match against Standard Liege with their team behind 3-1 due to flares thrown into the field, managerless Anderlecht is in disarray.

That followed a €50,000 punishment from UEFA for the club’s actions in their prior UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) match against West Ham United, a 2-1 loss that prevents Anderlecht from remaining in first place in Group B. (W1, D1, L2).

That West Ham setback marked the start of a dismal run of four straight losses that has left them hovering in the middle of the First Division A standings in Belgium. They now need to overturn a two-point disadvantage to Silkeborg in order to qualify for the UECL knockout phase play-offs. In order to keep the club’s dwindling chances of making it out of the group stage alive, interim manager Robin Veldman must aim to secure a result here after manager Felice Mazzù left on Monday.

Anderlecht vs FCSB – Betting Analysis

FCSB needs to win in order to keep their hopes of making it to the knockout round alive, but given that they have never even managed to score in an away H2H (D1, L2), they’ll undoubtedly travel in fear even if there isn’t any chance of crowd unrest should they find themselves ahead. However, given that they have only scored once during the group stage (D1, L3) and are 14 points behind the lead in Liga 1 in Romania, it looks doubtful (W5, D5, L3).

Although they ended their previous-to-last away game with eight men on the field, discipline must be maintained because the UECL only scored once, the opening goal in a 3-1 loss at West Ham. As a result, they have the potential to cause issues. Since FCSB’s last three UECL away games all had over 3.5 goals (W1, L2), if cards are expected, then goals are as well, so perhaps the headlines are made on the field rather than in the crowd.

Despite being Anderlecht’s standout player this season, none of Fábio Silva’s nine goals have come before the 30th minute, and his team has only lost one of his goal-scoring attempts (W7, D1). Andrea Compagno of FCSB has similarly scored five of his six goals for them this season after the 45-minute mark.
