Europe – Europa League
Date: Thursday, 18 March 2021
Kick-off at 17:55 UK/ 18:55 CET
Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro), Milan
Manchester United travel to San Siro on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie with AC Milan having played a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg. Youngster Amad Diallo gave United the lead at Old Trafford, but Simon Kjaer scored the equalizer in the second minute of injury time to ensure the match ended in a stalemate.
United have since picked themselves up with a 1-0 win against West Ham United ensuring they stay second on the league table and making it 13 game unbeaten run in all competitions. They will hope that the away goal conceded against AC Milan will not come back to haunt them in this reverse fixture.
AC Milan like their visitors sits second on the Serie A table just behind City rival Inter Milan. However, their form has been somewhat inconsistent after losing to Napoli the last time out. However, they do have enough firepower to match the illustrious Manchester team.
AC Milan welcomed back Hakan Calhanoglu, Ante Rebic, and Theo Hernandez to the team in last weekend’s game against Napoli, meaning there are more options for the coach to execute this match. However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessio Romagnoli are doubtful for the game, while Ismael Benancer and Mario Mandzukic are still unavailable due to injury.
It is left to be seen if Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani will be involve in the game for United, but Juan Mata and Phil Jones are certainly going to miss out on the action.
